Hi all,
I'm in a process of building retro gaming computer based on 386sx. Today got a sound card named SC-7000 ver 2.0. Research shows that it was made by Galland - canadian company. Tried to look for drivers, found one for SC-6000 and SC-8000 but so far no luck for SC-7000.
Took some pictures.

The card looks promising it has original OPL4 chip YMF278B-F+ 2MB ROM. The other chips are Crystal CS4248-KL, CompuMedia ASC-9408A.
Any idea how to make it work in Dos or/and win3.1 ?

Have you tried the SC-6000 drivers?

I don't have the drivers but I had this card ... I miss it 😀
I did found the webpage via wayback machine but sadly the files are not mirrored: https://web.archive.org/web/20000302121307/ht … driver-old.html

I assumed that it won't work, different chips, the SC-7000 is PnP the SC-6000 is not.

Well, at least this tells me that there were drivers for this card. 😁 Thank you.

Looks like the Linux SC-6000 driver also works for the SC-6600 and SC-7000 per the source code notes here:
https://docs.huihoo.com/doxygen/linux/kernel/ … _8c_source.html

Pretty sure the difference in synth chips aren't going to matter as it is probably just going to be seen as a MIDI device on the MPU-401 port.

It is worth a try at least.

It really looks like the SC-8000 driver should work with the SC-7000 as they should bot share the same ASC-9408a / DSP9410A chips.

See here:
SC8500 sound card - what does it do?

Here is the really old page from the web archive AND the driver downloads work. Looks like the ASC-9408a is WSS compatible.

The 66w95drv.zip should work for you in Windows. Look at the Readme. You will want to select "Windows Sound System and MPU-401, Wavetable Synth".
https://web.archive.org/web/19970127055743/ht … ww/drivers.html

There is also a real mode DOS WSS driver - not sure if this will work or not.
Microsoft Windows Sound system ISA Drivers help.

Also.. from other information I have found, the SC range of sound cards were also abbreviated to only two digits.. so yours would be SC-70.
Edit: Information from Gallant specifically saying this... and the drivers again on their newer site even though some of the drivers are no longer there:
https://web.archive.org/web/19971018190128/ht … ww/scdriver.htm

Newer download page with most of the drivers for the older cards - but not downloadable:
https://web.archive.org/web/19980121044954/ht … ww/scdriver.htm
/Edit

Edit 2: The Terratec Meastro 16 drivers might work as well.

I gave up for now, tried to load various drivers with no success. I can't even be sure that the card is fully functional. The main issue is that it's a PnP card so no jumpers to set IRQ, IO address. Ancient Compaq bios isn't helpful in this matter either.

Did you try the 66w95drv.zip driver?

Do you have a different computer with an ISA slot that you can test with?

And yeah, using it in a non-PnP system may be a problem.

I checked it but it's for Win95

Not now but planning to get some.

Yes, I agree, getting this 386sx from the basement I didn't know what I was signing for. 😀
