So I recently purchased a boxed HI-VAL WAVE 96 sound card.

It is really an Aztech Waverider Platinum 3D.

The card itself looks brand new. Not even a mark on the bracket where the screw would have held it in.

All software/manuals/papers were also included.

The inner-most cardboard tray is fine as well.

The problem is with the outer box/sleeve and the inner box. Both have been damaged by liquid of some sort (I am guessing an animal peed on the box) and therefore smell.

I already tried spraying the inner-box with some lavender spray and letting it hang outside in the sun on a cloths line for a few days and while the smell has lessened, it is still there a little bit.

The outer box/sleeve really smells and not sure I want to try the same method as it will most likely completely ruin it.. but it is either that or throw it away after scanning it.

What would you do?

If it smells like pee, I'd scan it and ditch it, indeed.

Even if it were in otherwise pristine condition, I'd only want to see it in an air-tight glass cabinet in a museum.
