Is it mandatory to adjust the volume to have it working ?
I don't understand why it should be supported, as it is a simple volume control.

If you don't specify the volume it will work with unspecified volume.
The volume setting can be initialized outside the program, which is in fact how I tested the feature.
Needless to say, being able to adjust the volume from within a music player would be "nice to have".

Nice, I see there are still Mod Master users 😀

Hi Freddy
I just download Mod Master XT 2.2 beta 25 and install on my Amstrad PC 2086S with XT-IDE and a 8.4GB Hard Disk. Unfortunately I don't have a Sound Blaster anymore, but a great PC Speaker
I put some Mod File (one was written by me in 1993!) and it works great... up to 12KHz sampling rate!

Thanks for your great job...
can I convert Adlib files to MOD in some way so I can listen too?

Just waiting for your next releases
Thanks again from Italy

Nice,

You can buy any Sound blaster card compatible from ebay, even ESS, or Sound Blaster Vibra16, they are cheap.
I recommend you the Vibra16 as you will be able to play in 16Bit and even faster in 8Bit with low noise.
Use UNISOUND to initialize the cards.

There is no way to convert adlib musics to digital, buy a cheap Vibra16 and you will see what we can do with a 8086.
Like in my Youtube Video there:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFk9qygPDG0&t=1511s

With a wavetable board, you can even play MIDI...

Hi,
I've found in a box with some hardware, an ALS100 sound card, it works with my Amstrad! ModMast XT sees it as a Sound Blaster 16, I've configured the software at 22000Hz, 8 bit. Can I push up to 16bit in some way?

Also, a friend will give me a Expert Color MED3700. Is it also compatible with a 8086 and Unisound?

Thanks a lot!

Yes, the ALS100 is compatible SB16, it is working but of course at a lower mix frequency (16KHz for 4 Channels instead of 28KHz)

I asked for an ExpertColor MED3700 too 😉 do you know if I can use on a 8086 and Unisound driver?

Hi Guys! Today I am testing the new beta version number 26, everything works perfect, but I found something strange in a module that I always listen to

I think there is a note that continues to sound and doesn't cut the note, it sounds longer than normal, surely you will realize it when you hear it.

I forgot, technical specifications: PC XT Nec V20, 1mb ram ( 32k EMS / UMB , im use USE!UMB with a hercules card to add that memory ) , SB Pro 2.0, Ega Card ATI All Wonder XL+ Ega Samsung Monitor.

I don't know this card

I've tried it on another Amstrad PC XT model, the PC1640, CPU 8086 8MHz. It works great with Unisound (it was reported as a Yamaha OPL-SAX sound card), also Mod Master, without the BLASTER environment string, uses the card as a Sound Blaster Pro 2.0 and plays Adlib files by using OPL3 chips and MOD files up to 21700Hz 8bit Stereo. Good quality sound.

Great!

Thanks 😀

The PC1640 ca play the .MOD (4 Channels) at 28KHz without issue:

Strange, I play this tune quite often.

Also, It is better to use the BLASTER variable, as Mod Master does not auto detect the IRQ and DMA (To avoid crash)

You are lucky to have an EGA Monitor 😀

I've actually noticed that before, too, but seems I forgot to mention it... funny, I could have sworn I did, but searching the thread, it proves I didn't. 😁

Hi,

Back from the Week end.
Yes, lemmings music use the tandy chipoo really well.
The TNDLPT does not use the same chip as the Tandy 1000, so some of the Lemmings sounds wrong.

Yeah, same problem with Zak McKracken. I think the proper chip is so rare, I only saw it ONCE on eBay in the last years, and it was for a ridiculous price.

I saw a youtube Video where somebody replaced the TNDLPT Chip by the Tandy one.

Pattern 5, Line 50, Channel 7, Doesn't cut well Vibrato VolSlide -> i think, turn off all the other channels and there it shows.

TDuHwjU.png

Here in the last photo you can see that if it makes that note longer than normal, is it possible to verify it?

Ok, I found this line in the code:

MOV Param_vs[BX],AL ; Test to not memorize Vol Slide Param if 0

Simply commented it 😀

I did a test, I don't remember when and why.
This will surely correct more than this music one.

Anyway, OPL3LPT does no sound for S3M and SAT Music, I still don't know why.

Are there many S3Ms using the OPL? I think there was one sample file with Scream Tracker 3, but that's all I know of.
