I configured this card with the setupsa.exe and it gets recognized in every game, but I have noticed that it makes some weird clipping noises and other artifacts in Doom and also have issues with digitized sounds in Wolf3D (e.g. a cutoff when opening a door). I tried to change the IRQ but no success, also it is a 486 system with the BIOS settings set to fail-safe. I also tried a ESS1868 ISA card in the same system which does not produce such symptoms, but I'd prefer the sound of the Yamaha (without the artifacts of course) . Does anyone has experience with YMF701?

Just yesterday struggled with YMF701. Got all problems solved by setting DMA clock to ATCLK/2 and then DMA 8bit & 16bit wait states from 1 to 2. ISA bus speed is 13,3MHz and lower speeds didn't make any difference. (I'm using MR BIOS)

Strange thing was that if I set XTIDE-ROM to shadow memory then sound card will freak out on any HDD activity...

Machine is MG-38606 with 486DLC-40.

(Yes I saw this is an old thread)
