Hello,

I'm newbie, and sorry for my first post is question 😐

But I was panicked since a few days ago, because QDI Platinix 2E/333 + Yamaha WF192D with PC/PCI didn't work...
Last week I read this article YMF744, DOS, no DMA? (PC/PCI, SB-link tests) (edit YES DMA, read further down) and decide to buy this one in ebay.
My QDI Platinix 2E/333 have arrived a few days ago and yes, it has solder pad for PC/PCI
I went straight to suck existed solder on solder pad and solder pin header
It seems that rectangular pad is 1, and circle pad is another. so I do not solder one circle pad where is just beside rectangular pad. (is it number 3, right?)

install my WF192D sound card and boot with dos 6.2, and run SETUPDS.EXE (worked for ICH4. thanks to stamasd 😀 )
but when SETUPDS.EXE runned, It shows only S-IRQ in IRQ MODE, and DMA MODE is greyed.
Setting DMA CHANNEL to 0/1/3 is not worked. only DISABLED worked. 😠
Game also not worked properly. 🙁
And, QDI Platinix 2E/333's bios setup has no DMA channel reserve for Legacy. so I frustrated and have no idea with it.

Why is my QDI Platinix 2E/333 cannot set DMA channel in SETUPDS?
I read YMF724 under DOS problem and flip cable but there is nothing change.
and he has DMA setting in BIOS SETUP that I haven't...

is there anybody help me? please...

EDIT: ICH4, not ICH5. it's my typo and I did SETUPDS.exe for ICH4 version but, situation does not change yet 🙁...

There may be something else missing such as capacitor(s) or resistor(s). You really need up close / macro pics of the PC/PCI area of a board that it works with and then compare it to your board.

You may also have a different/newer version of the BIOS that doesn't have the DMA setting.

few days ago I found BIOS QDI Platnix 2E/333 board repository https://drivers.mydrivers.com/search-5-796/h7 … 1-0-0-1-0-1.htm
and it has 2.1 / 2.2 / 2.3 / 2.6 BIOSes. I tested 2.1, 2.3, 2.6 and no one can modify DMA settings.
I cannot found a DMA setting in the BIOS, so I wonder how this board succeeded with another person.

Unfortunately I have no other Motherboard worked PC/PCI properly.
In ebay there is platinix 2D/533 that is slightly old version of 2E/333 but has official soldered PC/PCI header.
I placed an order but I want to continue solving 2E/333 problem regardless of that.

and I also ordered new 3x2 cable. This is not a big cause, but I'm going to change it.

Here is the official archived QDI support page:

Looks like you tried all the BIOS versions for that board.

Maybe there is some other component missing besides just the header. It is possible.

You can try out this modified initializer for YMF7x4, also there's an utility called YMFIRQ you can try to play with: http://vsynchmame.mameworld.info/

If your'e running the card is S-IRQ mode your S-IRQ need to be different from the card's PCI IRQ.

Thank you for your kindness and your link, It should have legit BIOS than previous repository I found!

I'll double check header soldering and... so on. I hope brand-new bought 2D/533 will reveal the mystery.

I read your YMFIRQ post previously but didn't know such usage. Thanks.

I'll test your method ASAP but, I'll have to wait until I get home.

Quite old thread but I feel some of responsibility...
Today I found that WF192D (with YMF724) emulates SB Pro, not SB16.
and has only 8-bit DMA even PC/PCI works...
I think it's time to search real ISA board, not PC/PCI soundcard.
Thanks.
