Per the title, got a X-Fi Titanium for a Pci-e slot. Going to install it on an Intel DH61CR mobo i3 setup, didn't know if I'd be
better off with onboard sound in windows 10.

Yeah, I was wondering, what is the advantage of a SB device outside a vintage PC, given their sound issues. Onboard is pretty darn good these days and doesn't process the sound unless your MB comes with software that does it, which can be disabled if desired.

I've been SB free for a long time now on my modern rigs, and all the happier for it.

Yes it will work. Or at least the X-fi Titanium in my Wife's PC seems to be working fine. I can't recall what drivers she is using, but she actually was running Win7 Pro originally and then did the Win10 free upgrade when that was a thing.

Yeah, you just need to use latest drivers from Creative site, because Win 10 1903 update broke previous ones. But otherwise it's working perfectly fine, I'm using one in my main rig.

Socket 775 - ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA, Pentium E6500K, 4GB RAM, Radeon 9800XT, ESS Solo-1, Win 98/XP

Cool, it's been in the box so long unused now I'll be able to fire it up.
