Vogons has taught me, always search the FCC number - which returns a fairly generic name: IPC Corporation Ltd Sound Card

Stason.org has a listing for a similar card, but not identical: https://stason.org/TULARC/pc/sound-cards-mult … UDIO-BOARD.html

Thats all I found. I think it’s interesting how it has interfaces for all the major cdrom manufacturers of the era.

Check out DOSBox Distro:

https://sites.google.com/site/dosboxdistro/ [*]

a lightweight Linux distro (tinycore) which boots off a usb flash drive and goes straight to DOSBox.

Thoses soundcards are good? Also the OPL4 in this card will work like a GM/wavetable function like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7cByGN3Uq0 ?

I don't know. Ask GabrielKnight123, derSammler, they have or had similar cards. Also, I don't think there's an OPL4, seems like plain OPL3.

Rather intrigued by that OPL3/OPL4 jumper. No sign of an OPL4 chip or associated ROMs on the board.

I'd say it looks like a fairly generic OPTi-based card, probably 82C928/MAD16. Not awful but by no means great either (definitely not worth the USD 81.55). FM synth should be OK, but I sort of dread the digital audio bit, Phil was enthousiastic about the 82C929, and although I don't like the drivers I can't complain, but there are reports of choppy sound (possibly bad DMA clicking) with the 928. Also stereo issues.

Better than nothing though.

Usual eBay insanity. Or rather, that specific kind of seller with a big shed and a lot of patience. For that money you could get a Terratec EWS64XL (on eBay, in US, available at this moment via Buy Now). Unless that OPL3/4 jumper does something very unexpected, this is at best a mid-range SBPro2 clone, the kind an OEM would put into a 'multimedia' system.

The OPL3/4 jumpers are for selecting the OPL4 when the OPL4 wavetable card is installed. It's done this way because the OPL4 can do OPL3 FM as well and since the OPL3 is an integral part of the OPL4, the onboard OPL3 must be disabled and its signals routed to the OPL4 wavetable.

The chip is most likely an OPTi 82C928. That's the only square chip OPTi made. Since the card is from 1994, it could also be an OTI601. Both are good SB Pro 2.0 clones with WSS for 16-bit, but nothing particularly special.

Is this soundcard has the issue in few games like Duke Nukem 2? The Same issue on audician32.

I have this exact card, I can confirm it's OPTi 928 based. The midi interface isn't MPU401 compatible, I couldn't get stereo to work, and I believe the audio quality was crappy as well but I'm not sure. Also, no Win95/98 drivers.

I have another OEM OPTI, 929a. The card look more "cheap" than this one.

No OPTi chip works with Duke Nukem 2, however.

Not true, the Opti 82C930 works just fine with Duke Nukem 2 since it supports ADPCM. Check the reference guide for more details.

I'm using that card for DOS gaming and I'm pretty happy with it. You can find my review of it here.

Did you actually try it? Last time I did test DN2 on a 82C931, sfx didn't work just as expected. I don't have any card with the 82C930, but I don't see why the 82C930 would work when the 82C929 and 82C931 don't. The datasheet says "IMA ADPCM" support, but I'm not certain that this is the same ADPCM codec as used by the Sound Blaster cards.

Of course, I wouldn't have mentioned it in my review otherwise.

During the DN2 intro all the sounds play fine, including the sound effect that plays when the target that Duke was shooting at moves toward the screen. As you probably know, this doesn't work right on cards which aren't compatible.
