I've built this machine a P3 600 with a P6bx-A+ board, a G450, Hollywood+ decoder, a SATA pci card and the AWE64 standard CT4520. I've tried different audio card to find that the overall best with lower memory usage, cpu and usually less problems is the AWE64, definetely with Line IN volume that is amazingly powerful if I use the DVD decoder card.
Problems: probably after some installation something went wrong with the volume mixer that show the correct card but the volume remains the same when I try to change the levels. Probably I did something wrong with the original awe64 cd installation into the os that was not needed.
Any way to fix it? Also another strange thing, if I use the DVD decoder card that use the line in of the card, after running any dvd with its audio and closing the app, the audio is like muted or similar in the os until the next reboot. I changed the ISA connector but still same things happens.
