Philippe, this is interesting, but this seems to be a setting internal to the YMF chip. The YMF7xx utility shows my card is set to 3.01. I'm not sure this refers to Sound Blaster compatibility, but I'm willing to try it. I don't know where to begin, though. In your post about enabling SB Pro on VT8231, your batch file was using PCISET. Would I use this tool to set those bits?

Sadly, there are no updates that I could find. The board is marked DTV-2370. It's a SFF computer made by a point-of-sale equipment company called Datavan. Their current website has no info on their older products. I managed to find the downloads page for their 2006 site on Internet Archive, but the downloads page requires a login.

The machine's BIOS is AwardBIOS v6.00PG, 03/22/2002-8604-686B-6A6LLDAAC-00. I've attached the output of PCI.EXE and HWiNFO if it helps. This was taken after I did all my testing, so all IRQs & DMAs are set to PNP and all devices are enabled. The dual card configuration described in my original post works with this configuration.

Huh.. looks like it is setting the slot the Yamaha card is in at IRQ10. But that is expected as you have it set to PNP and there is no setting to assign specific IRQs to specific slots.

There are a couple options to see if you can get the ability to assign specific IRQs to specific PCI slots.

1. Manually edit the BIOS to unlock hidden features
2. Use BIOS Patcher which should automatically fix problems and also unlock hidden features. You backup the BIOS to a file, then run the patcher on it and then flash the fixed BIOS file.

I have used both methods in the past but of course there is some risk involved and I probably would not do either unless:
1. You have an EEPROM programmer.
2. You have a another motherboard that uses the same type of EEPROM that you can use for Hot Flashing if something goes wrong (remove the BIOS chip almost all the way from the second board, boot up second board, remove the BIOS chip while the system is running, insert the bricked BIOS, and then force flash the unmodified BIOS to the bricked chip).

Safest way is to use an EEPROM programmer to program a second chip so you can just swap out with the original chip.

This thread gave me the idea to try leaving the INTA# IRQ at 10 in SETUPDS and manually configuring DOOM's DEFAULT.CFG file to use IRQ 10 (BIOS was configured so the YMF was the only device using IRQ10). Again, all audio tests worked within SETUPDS, but I got no PCM audio in DOOM. It feels like a board/BIOS compatibility problem, but I don't know enough about DDMA to know what my next troubleshooting step should be.

Thanks for the BIOS links. I think I'll order a couple of compatible EEPROM chips on my next Mouser order. If I can create a working spare BIOS chip using the hot swap method, I'll play with the BIOS patcher.
