Quite impressive. Is there a reason why you use a mini-usb connector, like you did with the x2? 🤔 ....I better stock up those cables.

as opposed to a micro usb which i ripped off in a prototype, during testing.
so yeah, because i like it, and you can give these old cables a new life 😀

Sold! 😎 This connector has its own retro vibes.

USB-C is available in through hole 😉

funnily enough mini-usb are the only USB connectors that ever broke on me, but those indeed did so multiple times, those weren't through hole though, so I'm sure it'll be fine ^^

USB-C cables are absolutely unnecessary for this kind of application. They are also an extra cost to most people. I have a million micro and mini USB cables lying about and I don't mind using them for these.

Also, we once discussed this with Serge and he persuaded me with one very simple and solid argument: Mini USB cables are A LOT LESS prone to getting detached by accident compared to Mini USB or USB-C. Once you plug them in, they are there for good.

Dont know where these are made for specifically.

Arent your outputs suppose to sit on the wavetable connector side? (same with the X5)
This because if it were to be used in an older soundcard the connectors will be right against the sockets which seems like a design-flaw.

One design is apparently intended for use as an external module with casing and the other design is for Waveblaster header soundcard connection, with the option to use as an external module in case.

The end of the year is upon us. You've obviously been up to something, cause you've recently posted a photo or two of the prototype Dreamblaster designs that you're testing, so what can we expect in 2023?

You can expect release of X16, I hope to finalize it during xmas holidays,
and release begin 2023.
The first batch will be ready soon, but still some software work.

I like the look, now waiting for the sounds. Also, maybe a weird request, but I would love if X16 had its own waveblaster header to mount an additional module, then software to control which channels go to each device. Korg NS5R (NX5R) has this ability and its a lot of fun to play with.

Modules: CM-64, CM-500, SC-55MkII, SC-88 Pro, SY22, TG100, MU2000EX, PLG100-SG, PLG150-DR, PLG150-AN, SG01k, NS5R, GZ-50M, SN-U110-07, SN-U110-10, Pocket Studio 5, DreamBlaster S2, X2, McFly, E-Wave, QWave, CrystalBlaster C2, Yucatan FX, BeepBlaster

that would be a different project, i have been thinking about this : 'waveblaster mixer', to combine mutiple board and chose which channels
but i doubt if anyone really would be interested, and which form factor, how many cards to support,..

Bootloader is basically working now, it allows to update soundbanks and firmware.
Thanks to Hummtaro for the help !

The software now supports multiple bank slots and switching between these.
X16GS will contain the dream/roland GS bank (same as X2GS) and also other banks.
You can switch between banks using midi commands, or using the dip switches :
Dip switch functions :

1234
0000 - Stay in Bootloader (allows firmware update)
x001 - Bank 1
x010 - Bank 2
x011 - Bank 3
x100 - Bank 4
x101 - Bank 5
x110 - Bank 6
x111 - Bank 7

we are finalizing the project, it may take a few more weeks to release.
I will keep you informed on progress
