Extreme long shot, but does any of these two files seem to work ?

thanks for the upload.
Running cfg801b.exe gives the same error message "Fm801/FM1000 does not exist"
Interestingly, running Dos801b.exe now gives a different message "DOS 801 cfg file error" it use to say "no FM801/1000 device".
I tried deleting volume.cfg and it gives the same "DOS 801 cfg file error".
Content of my volume.cfg file is:
[Volcfg]
Masvol=0
Pcmvol=0c0c
Fmvol=0c0c
SurVOl=0

Try adding this cfg file
DOSGAME.CFG
and try also this file
CFG801c.zip

No luck with cfg801c and dosgame.cfg, still gives the "Fm801/FM1000 does not exist" error message. What did you modify, was it the PCI ID check?

I tried the card in win98 and the https://gofile.io/d/xOLYYn drivers don't work, can't find the device.
The drivers cyclone posted https://oemdrivers.com/sound-sound-blaster-live-dell-oem install and then the card shows up in device manager as a sblive, but sound doesn't work. Also the volume sound icon is also missing in the bottom right corner of windows (where the time is).

Pc-sound-legacy posted it might be Crystal CS4280, so I tried the dos driver for that model (CWCDOS.EXE), downloaded from http://web.archive.org/web/20010423093015/htt … ?pg=2&OpSysID=1

Running cwcdos.exe in dos gives the error 'A SoundFusion(tm) chip was not found'. Not sure what it is checking, obviously this card has a fake PCI ID and the The CS4280 is Vendor ID=1013, Device ID=6003. I'll have a go at installing these in Win98 but my main aim is to get sound working in DOS.

I tried to modify what I thought were the PCI ID with a hex editor. I might have done it wrong . Or this is not an FM801 .

It is not an FM801. Put the card in a computer with XP and try the drivers I linked to.

It should work.

I had the unfortunate bad luck of receiving a similar fake card today. Bought 2 of them on ebay (listed as FM801-AU) and tried installing on a 98/DOS system. In Windows 98, the included CD installed the drivers just fine and the sound works fine, as does the gameport. However, upon trying to install under DOS, I got the same errors the OP got about an FM801 card not being found.

So I busted out my Siv32L utility and checked the hardware ID in WIndows 98 - and sure enough, ven_1102&dev_0006.

I attached a photo of the offending card.

I haven't tried installing the official Windows 98 drivers as found in the Vogons downloads, but I am going to assume that they won't work even in 98 and that the driver CD that came with this has modded/fake drivers.

The print on the chip on my card is much fainter, but it has all the same language, except the number is o423 instead of 0611.

Glad I found this post, otherwise I would have been stumped as to what exactly was up with the sound card.
