Hey all, long-time lurker and fellow graveyard parts collector...

I recently purchased this AWE64 from someone on eBay. During install of the software I was experiencing issues with the sound bank memory. Oddly enough, the card was detected normally and seemed to function normally to a degree. Being that it was supposed to have some onboard memory, but was reporting in the SB software as being "0" available, I decided to pull the card and have a closer look. Sure enough, I found a burned/melted trace.

Is this common? Is this card done? repairable?

Thanks for looking.

It looks like someone connected memory expansion wrong and that caused a short and burned the trace out. Luckily the fix of repairing the trace with a wire should be enough to make things work properly again.

If it was like that when you got it, definitely ask for a refund.

Thanks, I'll see if I can pull off that fix.
