Hello.

I have a tower of MIDI modules and becasuse the lack of space and real use, I feel that Many of them have to go out.
The models are:

- SC55 MKII
- SC88ST
- SC88 PRO
- SC D70
- SC8850
- JV1010
- XV2020
- Sonic Cell

These models are from Roland side, I want to have another kind of sound and also have a Yamaha MU1000 and Akai SG01K. So, for what I have said before, which of thouse Roland modules you will remove?.

Regards.

The SC88ST is an easy choice since you have the 88pro
I would also remove the SC-D70 because you have the 8850
IMHO

Thanks Keropi, I have the doubt between SC-D70 and SC-8850, I don't know why but I feel better sound on SC-D70 than the 8850 but the lack of a method to change the sound banks with a simple button...

I have read that there are differences in instrument mapping between them so maybe the SC-D70 defaults are better...
tbh both are kinda wasted for gaming reasons so if you prefer the D70 then remove the 8850 since it takes more space 🤣

Sell the rest unless you are intending to actually make music. 88Pro's 55 compatibilty mode is basically 1:1 with 55mk2.

Thanks, and is there any difference between the SC8850 with 88PRO map and the SC88PRO itself?

Regards.

The SC D70 is based on the 8820 so it's not a direct replacement of the 8850. But the SC D70 has both optical and digital via USB audio output that's mixed at a higher frequency than the 8850. So while things won't sound 100% the same, the SC D70 can give a higher quality ound.

I'd recommend keeping the SC55MKII and SC D70. The SC55 just because so much was written targeting it, so if you game it can provide a more accurate experience though of course some there are differences from an original SC55. So you could get rid of the SC88/8850s.

The non-SC stuff I have no experience with so it's your call.

8850's 88 modes are bugged. Compatibility is very poor. For this reason, 8850 was a big disappointment and sold terribly in Japan.
