I know this isnt exactly hardware related but it 100% revolves around sound so I hope it's okay to post this question in this subforum.

For many years now I've been asking myself: why are there two different soundtracks for Incoming?

You never noticed? Well, watch - erm listen to this:

This is the soundtrack of the official retail version of the game. You can tell this by track 11 (music track 10 actually because track 1 is the data track) which is the Old McDonald track from the hidden level.

Here comes the "different" soundtrack:

This is the one I grew up with. It's the soundtrack that came with the version of the game that was bundled with my Creative 3D Blaster Voodoo2 card.

Some of the tracks are the same but others sound completely different from the first second on. They're arranged the same way but use different sound samples and melodies.

Does anyone know why that is? I've been looking for an answer to this quite a long time.

So you mean that even the soundtrack got reworked/refined in those last couple months until the final Release of Incoming?

TBH I didnt even know that Incoming wasnt officially out at the time the Voodo bundles were sold. That's pretty interesting 😀
I also found the twitter account of Stephen Lord, the composer of this soundtrack (and of pretty much every song from Runescape - and so many more).

Maybe I'll toss a short question at him about this topic and see if/what he has to say about it 😀
