Hi,

I am new to this forum, I hope I found the right folder for my post.

I have an old Windows 98SE DAW in the attic that I would like to use again but in a networked setup. The problem is that I found no single networked MIDI solution that runs on 98SE (rtpMIDI, Copperlan, MIDI-over-LAN, ipMIDI etc only support the newer Windows driver models). As far as I can remember, back in the day (early/mid-2000s) there were solutions for Windows 98SE but I may be dreaming.

Does anyone here know of a solution for this problem that doesn't require the addition of a MIDI interface? (No, I can't change the OS)

Cheers,
delon

Does that computer have a sound card with a gameport already? If so, most likely all you need is a cable.

Think I found software that does what you want. Look for Midi2Lan on this page:

Wow. Checked everything but totally forgot about SynthZone. It has always been a treasure mine for utilities.

Thanks a lot! I will test it on the weekend.

EDIT: the real challenge will be to make LAN work on 98SE, though 😀
