I've been repurposing an ibm thinkpad r40 machine as a retro machine and wasnt thrilled with the onboard soundmax audio. So i bought a soundblaster audigy 2 zs pcmcia card in hopes of overriding the onboard sound card.

Problem arises that the drivers ive downloaded online for 98/me dont detect the device which makes me think it is looking for a desktop pci card.

Is there a way I can get this pcmcia card to act like a traditional soundblaster card for dos games or should I go another route?
All games i run for dos are in win98 mode, so i dont care for native functionality.

Any help is appreciated!

Welcome! No personal experience here, but give this driver a shot: http://vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?fileid=8 … menustate=45,38

And have a look at this discussion on DOS games: sound blaster audigy 2 zs and dos games?

thanks for the reply and the post for the pcmcia driver.
Im still having issues getting it to work for windows 98. It almost feels like i need to install xp for this to work, but that kind of defeats the purpose for what I wanted with this device.
The driver asks for windows 2000 or greater to work.

most of the time i can use windows xp drivers for windows 98se, but it looks like i need xp for this one. Id like to do that as a last resort though.
