Hi all,

I have a CT4500 which I've installed in a PC running DOS 6.22 & Win 3.11. The PC is roughly period correct, DX2 66, 16 MB RAM, Trident VLB etc... if anything the sound card is the modern part.

The card operates perfectly fine as a SB16 WAV device, whenever I attempt to run anything that uses MIDI playback via the loaded sound fonts all I hear is a very loud hiss/white noise, like somebody has detuned an analog radio and turned the volume up.

Results are the same with different sound fonts loaded.

Running the diagnostic app from DOS doesn't show any errors, no resource conflicts, 512kb memory detected and passes the memory test, 8-bit and 16-bit audio samples play fine. Synthesized music only produces the loud hiss sound.

Does anybody have any ideas on what could cause this - Not sure if this is a hardware or software issue.

Thank you
Jim
