I recently installed a Sound Blaster Pro 2 (CT1600). Seems to work fine for most DOS games, except The Incredible Machine (TIM). When I launch the game, I just get a black screen and I can't even reboot with ctrl+alt+del. The configuration in autoexec.bat was automatically set using the SB Pro 2 install disks. BLASTER is set to "A220 I7 D1 T4".

If I set up TIM with PC Speaker sound, it runs fine. I also runs fine with my AWE64 (CT4380).

System is a P133 with 96MB RAM, S3 Virge; Windows 98, boots to DOS.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

From what I have read, old SB cards prior to SB16 are speed sensitive, your P133 may just be too fast.

If possible, increase 8bit IO recovery time or ISA wait states in BIOS chipset settings. Disabling L1 and/or L2 cache can also help, although many things will run much more poorly then...
