Hey folks.
For fun I decided to see how far I could get installing Windows 2000 on my old Toshiba Satellite A100 I've had since I was a kid and amazingly it's more or less fully compatible with W2k, even got WiFi with WPA2 working somehow.
Regardless I am running into an issue with the Realtek HD Audio drivers. They install and work, but the playback quality is absolutely atrocious. It's like I'm listening to audio coming out of a tin can. I've tried two different drivers and the problem persists. Has anyone ever had experiences running RT HDA under Windows 2000 and noticed the same issue/found a fix?
I should note that under Windows Vista & Windows XP the sound quality was fine, 0 issues at all.
I'm also going to note that I'm running SP4 with all the latest updates thanks to Legacy Update.
