Hi everyone, this is my first thread on the forum, I'm having trouble getting analog audio from my IDE dvd drive to output to my sound card which is a Sound Blaster Live! CT4780, I have an analogue cable and a digital one, but when I insert a music CD into my PC, it doesn't transmit the audio. If anyone knows how to configure the audio on this sound card I would be very grateful.
My Retro Pc specs:
Motherboard - Gigabyte i865gm-775
Pentium 4 3,20ghz
2 HDD 80gb
LG DVD RW IDE Drive GSAH 55n
Nvidia Geforce fx5200 128mb
1,25gb Ddr400 ram
Soundblaster Live! CT4780
Network Card 3com 905cx
Windows 98 Second Edition

I have my Win98 SE computer updated with the update CD from here: http://www.vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?fileid=873

I mention that because for all I know it might make a difference, but probably not in this case (it does now have WMP 9). I have an SB Live 5.1 card, and one of the optical drives has an analog cable going to the sound card, the other does not. When I put a music CD in either drive, WMP comes up and it begins playing. What exactly happens when you put a CD in your optical drive? Does Windows Media Player open and you have no sound?

Other than this the sound card is working normally? Did the CD audio accidentally get muted? Does CD Audio show up normally when you open volume control?

As mentioned here Sound Blaster Live! Cd audio and Spdif input not Working! , the GSA-H55N has no dedicated digital or analogue audio output. There is no way to physically connect it to a soundcard and get CD audio out of it .

EDIT : This might help you get CD audio to stream through the IDE bus : https://msfn.org/board/topic/138504-problem-n … -digital-audio/
