I've seen some Y-splitter cables for connecting two drives to a single sound card. Can that cable be connected backwards to get the CD signal into two cards?

Surprisingly I managed to get an AWE64 and an Orpheus to totally cooperate with each other in the same system, I'd be nice if both could play the CD audio.
