Normally you should just need a standard MIDI cable to connect it to a MIDI adapter to the SC-55.

What are you using in your computer as a MIDI interface? Depending on what you're using, you might need a 15 pin joystick -> MIDI adapter.

You will also need audio cables to connect to your speakers, mixer or sound card input, depending on how you are routing audio.

my p1 and 486 both have a soundblaster pro 2 but i dont think its supports midi

No, I don't believe it does. MPU-401 compatible MIDI support started with the SoundBlaster 16.

You'll need something that support an MPU-401 compatible MIDI interface in order to connect the Roland SC-55 to a computer.

SBPro2 supports it thru SB-MIDI, but compatibility with software is much more limited.

wil this work with a soundblaster pro 2 https://github.com/PickledDog/hardmpu-wt

Yes, it is a stand-alone MPU-401 compatible card that has a gameport for external MIDI devices.

Yes. As long as things like port addresses and IRQs are configured so there is no hardware conflicts, any standalone MIDI interface will work alongside a Sound Blaster Pro 2.

Holy crap, glad I read this thread, had no idea sb pro didn't support mpu-401, I was about to swap out my audician32 for a sb pro now I think I'll try to figure out how to add it alongside and do the tarantella of the IRQs and the DMAs

but where to buy a quality cable ?

Back before I got an mpu 401 and I used an sc88 with the db15 to midi cable this was the cable I used , seemed to work pretty well

There's plenty of them on eBay.

Thanks for the tip on these, I snagged one just to try it, seems to work great tested two sound cards and midi modules. I've got a good second option if something gets the one I'm using now.
