Just installed my Diamond Monster II (I purchased it for Quake 3 specifically) but can’t enable A3D. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sound in Windows and DOS games are working perfectly.

I did the following…

1. Installed Windows 98 SE and SP3
2. Installed the Diamond Monster 2 drivers (v1.02).
3. Installed Quake III then patched it to v1.16n
4. Tried to enable A3D in Quake 3’s sound options but then get the following message in the console

“Initializing Aureal A3D…failed”

Try Aureal's generic 2041 drivers.

Those worked for me with Quake 3 and Voyager Elite Force on a Turtle Beach Montego II.

PC#1: Pentium MMX 166 / Soyo SY-5BT / S3 Trio64V+ / Voodoo1 / YMF719 / AWE64 Gold / SC-155
PC#2: AthlonXP 2100+ / ECS K7VTA3 / Voodoo3 / Audigy2 / Vortex2
PC#3: Athlon64 3400+ / Asus K8V-MX / 5900XT / Audigy2
PC#4: i5-3570K / MSI Z77A-G43 / GTX 970 / X-Fi

Thanks Joseph! The 2041 worked perfectly with Quake 3. On a side note, I can't believe how easy it is to install Vortex drivers VS Creative. Live 5.1 is a pain and Audigy 2 ZS is a nightmare.

I did notice that A3D is not enabling automatically when Quake 3 starts. I have to go enable it each time. I created autoexec.cfg in baseq3 and added "s_enable_a3d" but for some reason the autoexec.cfg isn't executing automatically when running Quake 3. If I run /exec autoexec.cfg then the config file runs and A3D is enabled. How to do you get your A3D to start automatically?

Unfortunately, I don't think it's possible for Quake 3 and Elite Force (same engine).

Both games automatically disable A3D on startup, regardless of the previous setting. I had to manually turn it back on every time.
