Hi everyone,
There's something that I wonder, maybe you can help?
I would like to know what ISA cards (mainly VGAs) can handle bus speeds past 8 MHz.
And if they need wait states (if you know about it) at some point.
I know, it sounds a little bit mad at first, but my first 286 PC ran at a 12 MHz FSB by default (from what I know).
The ATI VGA wonder (on-board) and the expansion cards (IDE host adapter, PAS16) did seem to handle that fine, as well.
Likewise, my current 286 runs at 10MHz/10MHz and all ISA cards are fine with it (SB2, NIC, OAK VGA, CF card).
That's why I would like to hear about your experience or knowledge. 🙂
For example, do some cards handle a 14, 16 or 20 MHz bus? With wair states, maybe?
Or is 16 MHz the very limit (twice the standard ISA clock rate)?
Thanks in advance,
Jo22
