There should be a 3dfx specific tab with the option to adjust Gamma in the display properties tab for the card, or you can set the environment variables in AUTOEXEC.BAT at startup.
Look for "Gamma" in the SST_ commands.
Example: SST_GGAMMA (Green Gamma) or SST_GAMMA (Global Gamma)
and so on.
@Meatball, thanks, that helps, I was worried something is wrong with my card, my other two (under win98) don't share this problem as well as V2 SLI and V3. 😁
I think you can also set these options on the fly in windows, e.g. have a batch file to set various SST variables then call your games exe... at least thats what i do with quake and quake2 😁
P1: Packard Bell - 233 MMX, Voodoo1, 64 MB, ALS100+
P2-V2: Dell Dimension - 400 Mhz, Voodoo2, 256 MB
P!!! Custom: 1 Ghz, GeForce2 Pro/64MB, 384 MB
3dfx's bright gamma (1.3 on v2/3, 1.7 on vg) is a design default, likely coming out of the arcade industry as all those big ol CRTs tend to be dark.
