There are no actual Hz rates which is odd only those two options. Optimal gives me the flickering in game whereas the other option runs the game but as soon as you enter mission this shows up.

Eventually this hangs the system. Is there any other way to set refresh rates in Win98? As the ATI drivers seem to be doing weird stuff.

Yes, with HzTool which allows to change the refresh rate for each screen resolution. Note that all the settings aren't guaranteed to work as intended with every video card.

Now i get this: https://streamable.com/c84xoa

Its definetly soome sort of refresh issue. I tried HZtool for windows 98 but its not changing my refresh rate.

Dark Omen is notoriously difficult on any hardware that came out after its launch. Sometimes even on supported cards such as the Voodoo 2, the game will crash with later drivers. What you are facing is a common issue with the game that I have never been able to solve. Is this a laptop that you are trying to play the game on? Have you connected an external monitor to it? If the monitor is "Unknown" and no driver has been assigned to it, Win9x can sometimes spaz out when attempting to change refresh rates.

It is indeed a laptop, an IBM T41. I have the internal monitor driver installed.

I have no external monitors to use they are all hdmi etc no vga.
