I got Siemens Nixdorf Scenic 4L with Cirrus Logic onboard. It has one slot for adding video RAM. I should use exactly the same chip or something bigger?

You need to use exactly the same chip kind. That's a
- 256K x 16
- Dual CAS
- Fast Page mode
- dynamic RAM
- for 5V supply
- in SOJ40 package
If your onboard graphics currently only has one RAM chip, upgrading it from 512K to 1M makes a lot of sense, and it will also increase performance, as the memory bus will increase from 16 to 32 bits. There are numerous threads on VOGONs about the pointlessness of Cirrus Logic memory upgrades, but they are about the upgrade from 1MB to 2MB.
