Hi all,

As some of you know I'm a HP 200LX Palmtop PC enthusiast,
and I have a YouTube channel all about these little wonders called PalmtopTube.

Over the last few years I have added all kinds of accessories to my 200LX machines and have made videos about them,
from PCMCIA ethernet (a web server) to various Serdaco LPT sound cards (via PCMCIA to LPT cards) and even SCSI-2 devices.

However, one major issue when using the 200LX is it's small 80's style greyscale LCD screen.
It's hard to read, has a horribly slow refresh rate (hindering playing certain games) etc...

I have been looking into the possibility of hooking up a 200LX to a VGA monitor and hopefully running Windows 3.0 (which runs fine on a 200LX in real mode),
on the 200LX using a 16 bit PCMCIA VGA adapter.

From spending an hour googling/searching I managed to find only one option, the Canopus Power Window T64V PCMCIA Graphics card:
https://www.ebay.ca/itm/265974653941?itmmeta= … ABk9SR8S_ypLsYw

I think it's 16-bit PCMCIA as it does'nt have the gold coloured bar on the socket end that 32 bit cardbus cards have...
I might have to develop a card services enabler for it, and might have to use a generic VESA/VGA driver for 640x480 with 16 colours,
which is already a major improvement over the built-in CGA 640x200 monochrome LCD panel, for Windows 3.0 apps.

Unfortunately the link above is the *ONLY* one available at the moment and the seller seems to know this,
as he is charging a ridiculously high price for it (UKP 500) which is nearly NZD $1000, way too much for something that might be broken,
or, might not end up working at all...

So, I wanted to ask here, does anyone know of any alternative PCMCIA card, or other kind of setup that could work ?
And, If someone has one of these cards (16bit PCMCIA, not Cardbus), and is happy to do a trade for a mint (as new) condition HP 200LX 2MB,
please let me know and we can work something out...

I did find this thread: PCMCIA Graphics and Video decoding cards
which has information about some cards, and the Canopus one seems to me the only one that could possibly work...

Cheers,
Terrence

There are also scsi graphics adapters, but they're Mac only devices.

Good luck hunting for a 16 bit pcmcia card, between the Canopus, the NewMedia J9MSVGA and the Colorgraphics Voyager.
