Look at DOS Quake and the resolution that are available if no VESA 2 driver is installed. Those resolutions all play nice with standard VGA and have standard VGA timings, so no problem with LCDs and so on. Max is 360x480 and even original IBM PS/2 VGA can do that resolution.
I am aroused about any X86 motherboard that has full functional ISA slot. I think i have problem. Not really into that original (Turbo) XT,286,386 and CGA/EGA stuff. So just a DOS nut.
