I am writing an article about VQuake and the Rendition Verite. Unfortunately I don't have the hardware to generate screenshots (or even better, a video). Is anybody on this thread able to post 640x480 screenshots (the best to compare would be a video like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVOVwHKgrG0).

I have screens of VQuake on V1000. They are 768x576 which is the highest resolution that can be rendered.

I also have some V1000 videos on YouTube but no longer have the source files for them.

These have the edge anti-aliasing enabled and you can see it missing edges that intersect polys. Particularly the last one with the dead monster.

... just watching an ooootube video and your vQuake video got a shout out!

It must be Rendition season 🤣

Cool. Good stuff. They asked me in the comments a couple of months ago if they could use the video. I've been wondering what was coming. 😎

I need all the .uc files ever for a project, and which model card they are for. I guess I'll gather what I can from VOGONSDrivers. If there's more, let me know 😀

All the files I have are up on there.

Through a happy accident I just acquired a Diamond Stealth II S220 V2100 4MB PCI. Does Vquake require Windows? Is there a legal place to download Vquake?

Check out DOSBox Distro:

a lightweight Linux distro (tinycore) which boots off a usb flash drive and goes straight to DOSBox.

VQuake is in the Game Patches Compilation. It is a DOS program.

Maybe I missed it skimming through the thread but is there a guide or readme anywhere for flashing the BIOS of the Diamond Monster V2100 to a V2200?

It's the Diamond Stealth II S220. The BIOS is up on VOGONSdrivers. It's just a DOS flash program if I remember right. Very easy to do. It was an official BIOS update.

Should be in this archive.

Well, in the end I did not track which cards they were for, but I did gather them all up and de-dupe them (and renamed many of them by order of filedate). No idea if they're card-specific yet or what.

Probably useful to no one other than myself and others who may want to see it emulated one day such as Tuxality and leileilol.

I wrote more about it here: https://forums.bannister.org/ubbthreads.php?u … t&Number=115351

I've been finally able to get a working v2200 card, but I also bought one that makes artifacts in 3d.
This is the working card: https://imgur.com/a/XpIHAUT
This is the non working: https://imgur.com/a/nXI2kzH
What could it be? A memory issue?
Does anyone know how can I mod the frequency of chip, memory and dividers from bios?
I decided to test some drivers myself with 3dmark99 and quake2, any suggestion is more than welcome:
iFWMzF6.png
Note 1: Qdi and Hercules drivers are probably the same, they also have the same date, both don’t have opengl driver.
Note 2: v2.3 is also without opengl drivers, I tried the Rendition_V1-2k_Gold_MiniGL copying both files on system directory, but on mdk2 I just got the screen with just the hud the 27 fps are a total fake.
Note 3: V3.0 BETA 4 & 5 there are missing texture on 3dmark like the fence on the left, clouds and the indicator of speed during the first test, some visual glitches on the floor on the second test.

Unlucky it seems there is no best driver, the older seems better with 3dmark but they lack opengl drivers, while the newer are slower but opengl speed increase from version to version.
I was wondering if it is possible to mix the latest opengl drivers with v3.0 BETA 3b-gl? Take the beta5 v2000gl.uc and paste it on the older?

Here is a further update:
The card who had memory issues has been sent to Tiido and he not only repaired it, but also upgraded to 16mb, so this is the only existing Rendition Verite v2200 with 16mb.
Here is the final picture of the card (with added heatsink): https://imgur.com/a/5nfprTO
While those are pictures provided from Tiido while while bringing the card to a new life: http://www.tmeeco.eu/BitShit/PCschit/NemoStuff/
Since sgram of 7ns has been used it will allow some overclock compared to the original 8ns.

I've used for the tests a fresh installed version of windows 98 se with a pentium III 650 on a bx mb, used the latest beta drivers, I had no issues with 3dmark 99 everything was rendered correctly.

I will update the post with the results when i'm done, if anything has any suggestion on overclock frequencies or what benchmarks to use is welcome.

Wow 16mb is awesome. You gotta find some games/benchmarks that wouldnt run on 8mb of vram and see how the Rendition Verite holds up.

Well that will be difficult, the first that i'm sure require 16mb is 3dmark 2001, but surely it will not be compatible with the risc core...
That being said there are little differences with other windows benchmarks too...
Unlucky I'm having difficult times overclocking the memory, it seems despite being 7ns it's unable to reach 140 mhz 😠

The whole suite might not complete, but possibly you could run certain parts of it?

Cool to have a 16MB V2200! The main benefit is probably more texture storage to reduce bus transfers that cause stuttering, but yeah I'm not sure what will run well on V2200 that would even use up 8MB.

Maybe the 16MB texture test in 3DMark 2000 is exciting enough. 🤣

I'm having issues with overclocking, I tried 55\128 (I want to find the limit of memory before push the risc core) but it hangs when 3dmark starts... I don't get why...
Anyway overclock the card is very easy, there is a program called: rendclk and I use an excel file (found somewhere), after installing the driver there is verite.ini file in c:\windows, after rebooting the system overclock is done (or not if windows hangs).

There are no differences in dos, I can use quake (vquake) with higher frequency but it makes no sense.
There are more differences on windows, thanks to the 16mb, mainly in 3dmark2k and mdk2. Since that results are so low it makes IMHO no sense to try 3dmark2001 with this card.

I will try to overclock the card with different values but my opinion is that those memory are mistakenly rated for 7 ns while they aren't (the donor card had memory run at 90 mhz)

It's possible the GPU's memory controller can't stably clock higher.

It's likely this way, but also the most unsolvable.

I always thought that the main bottleneck was the RISC core, but according to the results I got, I must admit that it isn't so, the card seems to be well balanced, if I increase the memory clock and decrease the risc frequency or do the opposite the performance increase is almost none.
I found what I thought what to be the best spot: 63/125, it completed 3 3dmark99 runs and a mdk2 benchmark, performance increase is nice, but then it hanged on the first test of 3dmark2k.
I will test further in the next days, probably when it will be less hot...
