Cool!

Any issues with the unit at all? When you reboot and change resolutions, is the image always 1080p?

no the signal is not scaled, it always converts the original resolution

So when you record and switch resolutions, reboot, does it create a new video file each time, or just one large video file showing everything, the reboots, going from DOS to Windows?

the capturing is done through directshow and you can specify a fixed output resolution

I use an ATEN VGA-DVI converter. works pretty good for my 386 (orchid kelvin), 486 (riva128) and the voodoo from the K6

Is it this?

schlang: Why use that converter box when you have this expensive card?:

Oh he has an Epiphan card 😲

Thanks but doesn't answer my question 😀

I find it a hassle if it creates several files each time you change resolution. How does your workflow look like?

both works very well, however I like the ATEN because it allows me to position the video "on the fly".

I use virtual dub, so there will only be one file

Got hands on a Matrox DualHead2Go Digital Edition, which has VGA as input and DVI as output.

Quality is quite good, but it won't sync to anything below 640x480.

Does not fix 640x480 Glide on Voodoo1 and 2 (it syncs, but image is not aligned perfectly), but 800x600 works without problems, so that is one down 😀

Well, I am a crazy nut and went and got a new device, similar to schlang's. Except it's the DVI2PCIe. 🤣

Recorded at a native 720 x 400 at 70Hz, but it ended up being scaled a bit through Adobe Premiere when all was said and done. First time I ever made a video with premiere, I'm actually quite pleased with the outcome still! 😁

Oh what are your experiences with this card?
Did you had problems with the latest beta drivers to do a frame exact capture using VGA (missed frames) ?
I recommend keeping the resolution intact and set the container formats aspect ratio to 4:3.

So far so good, even with 320 x 240 resolution content. Using my VGA cable with a VGA to DVI I typically would use for my graphics cards to hook VGA monitors to.

Never tried the beta drivers, as far as I can tell what I did get, work great. I can even share it over Skype or Yahoo Messenger as a webcam with friends.

Well when I do record, the resolution is kept intact, but when youtube is of concern, it seems I have to use something more standard than 720 x 400. Like 1280 x 720 for example. Unless I am missing something. 🤣

Digging up this thread, as youtube announced support for 60 fps playback somewhen within the next months.

However does someone knows if this means that 70 fps videos have to be re uploaded again?
(Or does it reprocess already uploaded content too?)

WOW! Great news 😁

I've made all my videos in 60FPS, so I really hope I don't have to reupload.

Wow that's cool. Well all my videos are rendered in PowerDirector with 30 fps. But good to know to keep an eye out for this for future videos!

There are some sample videos in 60fps posted : https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbsGxd … pS8teoRKj7funAy

I divided the number of decoded frames by the time and got results in the 60s. However, the playback must be set to an HD format, 720p/1080p/1440p.

Most of our stuff is typically in a 480p or lower format, so it should be reuploaded once widespread support comes. We will have to convert our videos to high resolution.

Can't wait to do some of my future videos in 1080p and 60 fps with V-sync enabled 😀

Not thinking so much about DOS, but early Windows 3D games.

To get a better bitrate/framecontent ratio I always scale x2 for Youtube uploads. So 720x400 at 70 fps (all DOS low res modes) gets 1440x800 at 70 fps with aspect ratio in the container set to 4:3. Youtube generates 720p material from this, so it is already HD. Also the quality is indeed better compared to the 480p version generated by youtube.

I've been uploading interlaced captures recently. I'll wait and see what it does to those...

The 30fps limit is an internet deadlock that really needs breaking. It's been the bane of the fighting game community for so long.
