For vetz:
BRender isn't a proprietary API, but reasonably uncommon 3D API/engine from the mid-90's.
Interesting BRender note, may have been mentioned here before:
http://www.cwaboard.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=9020
It links to a collection of most BRender device drivers. Inside the collection:
3DFX_DOS
3DFX_WIN:glide.dll,sst1init.dll
DDRAW:ddraw.dll
DIRECT3D:ddraw.dll,d3dim.dll
MYST_WIN:msi95.dll
RAGE_DOS
RAGE_WIN:ati3dcif.dll,ati3dcor.dll
S3_WIN:s3dtkw.dll,ddraw.dll
So across its editions we see BRender supported cards/APIs that were released include:
- 3Dfx Voodoo Graphics /Voodoo2 etc. (DOS - this may be low-level, not even static compilation, not using an API)
- 3Dfx Voodoo series (Glide 2.x) (Windows)
- Alliance ProMotion AT3D
- Artist Graphics 3GA
- ATI 3D Rage (series?) (DOS - this may be "low-level", not using an API)
- ATI 3D Rage series: I/II/II+/IIc/Pro/LT Pro (ATI 3D CIF) (Windows)
- Creative Labs 3D Blaster (GLINT)
- Matrox Mystique (Matrox Simple Interface / MSI) (Windows)
- Microsoft DirectDraw (Windows)
- Microsoft Direct3D (Windows)
- Rendition Vérité V1000
- S3 Virge series (S3D Toolkit) (Windows) - 86C325 ViRGE, 86C375 ViRGE/DX, 86C385 ViRGE/GX, 86C260 ViRGE/MX, 86C988 ViRGE/VX
And according to their 1996 website:
http://web.archive.org/web/19961220182715/htt … w.argonaut.com/
They also supported:
- 3Dfx (Quantum3D) Obsidian
- 3Dlabs Creative 3D Blaster (probably the Game GLINT one)
- Brooktree BTV2120
- Samsung KS82C614A Double Dragon
- Philips Semiconductor Tasmania (using Yamaha's YGV612 RPA2 3D chip)
In 1997, "Dio" was working on the following (https://forum.beyond3d.com/threads/help-me-re … e-2#post-799904 )
- S-MOS SPC1515 PIX
- Oak Technologies Inc. OTI-64317 (Warp5, aka Warp 5)
- one other
However, those device drivers seem to be unreleased, a few of the chips were unreleased/limited run as well.
More BRender games have yet to be gone through though.
I don't think anyone's done BDD swapping to test compatibility etc.
