There's no way to use this mode on Windows drivers is there? i.e. enabling support for it in Unreal, GL/D3D games, etc.

I do know it's in a couple of arcades at least (Gauntlet Legends) and there's code in the drivers for explicit support for this mode

/* 512x256@60 only syncs to Arcade-style monitors */

I do know that you can force it in the registry (SST_SCREENREZ/SSTV2_SCREENREZ 512256). it'll look screwed up though since you can't set a lower resolution than that in the games and will throw the sync off.. This may damage your monitor; use at your own risk!!!

And just to be sure I am not horribly typoing 512x384 that res is normal and is actually supported

There are more modes in the glide SDK unsupported by Voodoo2/Voodoo2 SLI.
320x200 (00h), 320x240 (01h), 400x256 (02h), 640x200 (04h), 640x350 (05h), 512x256 (0Bh) and 400x300 (0Fh).
Plus 1280x1024 and 1600x1200 but the reason is - low VRAM.

All multisync CRTs (except arcade ones) have the 31.5 kHz (VGA) limit for the horizontal frequency. So even the 350 lines are problematic. 300 and 200 lines aren't supported at all (31500 / 70 = 450, 250 blank lines). Maybe this is the main reason for Voodoo2 not support 350 and less lines.
LCDs have the similar limit.
