Thats the spirit 😁 Good work!
Care to share photo of your CPU? And is that score with 112x5.5 or 124x5 or 133x4.5?
My best score with MVP3-M is 4800+ with 112x5.5

Try this to tweak maybe.

Skala, thanks for support )

It's the stable K6-3+ 400 @ 620 (124x5) with 1Mb of 4ns cache enabled. The BIOS settings do not allow to go higher. No modded one available, so I need to use WPCREDIT.
I'm also waiting for some interesting example of japanese tech: Freeway FW-TI5WGF.
It has 2Mb of 4ns cache and big tag SRAM (32 pins) 512x8. A great chance compete Epox 5MVP3G5.
I'm not sure, but FREEWAY were probably inspired by FIC and ASUS and made it RED that must go faster)

!!! try at your own risk !!! These settings give 4800+ points in 3DMARK2k with GeForce2 / Quadro 2 Pro and NVIDIA 7.58 drivers under Win98SE and DX7.0a
I'm posting this info 'cause of the fact that the performance in 3DMark2000 and thus game performance is directly based on the K6-2's FPU. I've found that the bottleneck is not the memory bandwidth, since 240 mb/s FPU (Sandra) is enough for everyone. Because of the FPU of K6-2 is not pipelined , its performance is highly frequency-dependant. The results in 3DMark2000 over 5k+ is only possible with fast chipsets and/or 680-720 Mhz CPU frequency, that is only depends on YOUR K6-2/3+ CPU SAMPLE 😀

I think I must report this source of 1Mbyte 4ns cache modules

My last step will be Liquid Nitrogen 😁 120x6 = 720Mhz The dream is to get 6000 points!

And when is that red beast arriving??

Mentat, try Geforce 3 Ti.
How did you get fast write on? Any side band?
Can you make me a screen shot with WPCredit?

My GeForce3 Ti 200 is 100 points weaker than Quadro2Pro . GF3 has a penalty with 7.76 drivers, while Quadro has a gain, as it was reported in the thread.
Enabling SBA causes immediate lockup when entering 3D. I turned ON Fast Writes via WPCRSET, that gave me another 100 points. I also turned On MTRR0 & 1 write combined, that gave me only 50 points.
It looks like I need to tweak that VIA AGP bridge manually))
Now I have 4890 points with K6-3+ 400@620/124 with 1mb Cache enabled at 2.5v and it does not go upper in any combination of FSB/Multiplier settings on AIR. I did not try decapping, though.
I use DX7.0a ; since the gain while using DX8 is not reliably significant, should I stay with DX7.

Red Beast arrives on the 15th of July, officially )

Ps. The Red Beast has an extreme edition and baby AT version.

You must run GF3 Ti200 @ Ti500 clocks it is then faster than GF2
But now you have me thinking of using GF2 with big overclock 😁
That is a very high voltage for that overclock! Its touching the dangerous side.
I am so excited about the motherboard that you are getting! I have been looking for one for 4 years now 😜

I am still jumping around with DX7 and DX8 Think DX7 is better for GF2

Wish we knew how to use ATI card 🙁

Unfortunately , I do not have any Overclock-capable GF3. They are still on the way. But, that Quadro has 3.5ns RAM and Overclockable.

I think those NVIDIA drivers were optimized for 3dnow! Instructions. That’s why they x1.5 more effective.
Unfortunately, ATI drivers, probably, were not optimized and we are not going to unleash the ATI power untill someone adds that 3DNow! to drivers)
I am getting closer to 5000 barrier at 620 MHz 😀

Still unable to turn on SBA and fast writes. Side band addressing causes black screen and fast writes bit is just ignored. Maybe, these should be turned on at BIOS, but I do not have these settings, yet) Via 4in1, version 1.35, the fastest?

You beat my VIA platform score 😁
Yes those nvidia drivers were optimized
My tests with 4in1 drivers did not prove much, even not installing them at all had good results.
You need to enable side band and fast write in the VGA bios. There is a geforce 2 bios editor that can do it but I have not found it.

Fast Writes is a feature of the newer AGP 2.0 specification (AGP 4x and faster).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accelerated_Gra … s_Port#Versions
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accelerated_Gra … s_Port#Protocol
It cannot be turned on on older boards only supporting AGP 1.0 specification (AGP 1x and 2x only) as both motherboard and graphics card had to support it.

Sorry for this bad news 🙁

The problem with the Q3 is there are too many variables. Like console commands etc.
You will need to work on a platform that will be the same for any one else 😀

Mentat, it will be awesome to upgrade the cache but there are other factors that play a role but I know that you know this.
I just hope it is easy to do. Your 2mb DFI board should give you the needed info, like do you need smd caps/resistors.

Still curious about the P5A!!

Well I think a plenitude of variables is a fun thing.
I have spent hours and hours researching and tweaking my cfg file. Great fun! 😀

It seems that Asus P5A offers a little more. K6-2+ 500 @ 633 and K6-3+ mobile 400 both took 633 @ asus P5A. v1.06 and Gigabyte GA-5AX .
115 FSB is too heavy for a cache module. It needs replacement to a more frequency-capable one in Asus. Gigabyte is ok.
The screen is made on a Gigabyte GA-5AX mobo. I have both ATX Asus & Gigabyte where Asus offers 10% more in the memory bandwidth.

Mentat, remember the problem could be the internal tag and not the cache.
I have 0 experience with overclocking internal tag. The info on this is vague.
Dit you try to use higher VIO? P5A/P5AB is bad overclock with stock VIO.
