Desoldered and salvaged the memory modules from a broken S3 Trio 64V2/DX, and put them in another identical card's memory expansion sockets. The other card reports 2MB video memory, and does 1024x768 in 16M colors / 1280x1024 in 256 colors now, so it looks like it works, but naturally, I'd like to do some more thorough testing. The memory modules were surface mounted, so had to expose them to considerable heat when desoldering.

Does anyone happen to know if there's some utility to do this? It will have to run on DOS/W98, or something I can boot off a floppy or CD in a Pentium 200 machine.

X-VESA includes video memory test (just run "Full test" and wait until finish)

Thank you very much!

The memory modules seems to have survived the transplantation unscathed 😀
