Hi, I was recently given a Leadtek Winfast 6800LE card, which I decided to try and unlock. I was able to unlock it to 12 Pipes and 6 Vertex Shaders without any issues.

I ran 3D Mark 2006 before and after unlocking. The score overall score was higher after the unlock, but the CPU score dropped drastically.

Below are the scores I got. Tests were run at 1024x768.

Default (8pp:4vs)

3DMark Score: 985
SM2.0 Score: 316
HDR/SM3.0 Score: 399
CPU Score: 920

Unlocked (12pp/6vs)

3DMark Score: 1093
SM2.0 Score: 356
HDR/SM3.0 Score: 473
CPU Score: 637

Why the drastic drop in CPU score? The graphics score seems about right. Is the GPU perhaps causing more load on the CPU with the newly unlocked features?

In case it helps, the specs of the PC I'm testing it in are as follows:

Pentium 4 641 @ 3.2GHz
2x 1GB DDR400
SiS661GX Chipset Motherboard

Thanks in advance, Your thoughts on this would be much appreciated.

My Retro Gaming PC:
Pentium III 450MHz Katmai Slot 1
Transcend 256MB PC133
Gigabyte GA-6BXC
MSI Geforce 2 MX400 AGP
Ensoniq ES1371 PCI
Sound Blaster AWE64 ISA

Normal result for 3dmark06 when ran o such an old / underpowered machine. The benchmark's CPU test can give even a modern machine trouble. After unlocking the card it required more system resources then before, witch caused the machine to score less in the CPU test. Graphics tests scores look good. 3dmark03 would be a better suited benchmark for your machine.
