Is there anyone that has a w520 with a Quadro 2000m that can run 3Dmark (basic version) ? I'm getting some atrocious scores and am trying to figure out why (like 1200 for Skydiver and 4500 for Cloudgate benchmark).

I'm assuming that the thermal paste on the GPU is no longer conducting heat properly and/or the heatsink/fan unit is no longer functioning well due to dirt/age, I was hoping to avoid a tear-down but looking like I may have to in order to get any kind of decent performance out of this laptop. I can't afford to buy a new one and am contemplating trying to hack up some sort of external GPU solution or just use the desktop for anything that requires GPU/CUDA. I'm using the latest Nvidia drivers for the 2000M so I don't think that is it.
