sure - as long as it's not a localized one!
thanks!

Btw. once you tried, I'd be glad to know if it worked for you, just for experience.

Digging in an old case I at last found my VG-3000 (OTI037-based) with a very similar looking BIOS setup - which had been missing for over two years. Interested in the ROM, or do you think it will be the same as the one Jo22 uploaded back in 2017?

I don't think, that it's the same, because on the 067 I don't see that "rainbow hello string", which is typical for the 037 cards. I have one OTI037 here as well. I have to check the version, but if it's different, I can upload the BIOS here too.

I found a data sheet for the chipset, it looks like the card required higher clocked 100ns ram to run higher resolutions, so may be a lot of the boards used cheaper 120ns ram, and they are limited to 640x480.

datasheet: http://datasheet.datasheetarchive.com/origina … ans-0038210.pdf

Hi there! And thanks a lot for the information!
Please forgive my little necro, also.
But, today I've found another, additional stumbling stone for the 640x480 maximum resolution:
The default DIP switch setting is configured to "VGA monitor".
According to the VG-7000 manual, the DIPs can be set to one of the NEC settings, to allow higher resolutions.
The "VGA monitor" setting was meant for single frequency monitors of its time with ~31.5KHz and 60Hz/70Hz refresh.

Quick update. Did some testing with the Windows 3.x drivers on Windows 3.10 on a 286.
The Windows 3.1 640x480 and 800x600 drivers did technically work and are fast,
but the 800x600 256c driver repeats drawing the top part at the bottom.

The Windows 3.0 counterpart, vga256c8.drv, did work correctly, though.
It's just very slow by comparison. Perhaps because it's doing things the correct, but slow way.

Card was an OAK OTI-067 with 512KB and the BIOS I mentioned years ago.

Edit: My apologies for bloating this venerable thread a bit,
but since I was currently tinkering with this matter, I thought I should share my results with you.
I'm now quiet again, no worries. 🙂
