Is there a tool out there or env vars that can change settings on this chip or such (on old Rage and Radeon cards)?

Sick of it starting up in a blurry small 'frozen' display all the time with saved settings not being properly loaded, and I can't seem to get a unadulterated 720x480 mode output from it like I could on 3dfx....
