So the card itself has a 3.3/1.5 v universal edge but does this mean it is safe to use in any AGP slot? I'm wondering because the the motherboard in question has a warning written right on the PCB not to use 3.3V cards.

Thanks!

I think any Geforce is safe for 1,5v operation.

3.3V only cards will have only one notch on their slot (at 1/3 length), located towards the metal bracket . Cards with the universal edge have both notches as you already pointed out. And later AGP cards (made after Nvidia FX and Ati 9800) have only a notch located at 2/3 length of their slot, to prevent them from being inserted in old 3.3v mobos. These are the 0.8v cards. (In fact officially the Ati cards of the R360 series were already 0.8v only cards, but some manufacturers decided to unofficially support 1.5v and so on)

Early Matrox G400 cards, Powercolor Voodoo 4 4500 and even some TNT2 cards are not 1.5v compatible. Everything after that had no problems with 1.5v standard.

I must be some kind of standard: the anonymous gangbanger of the 21st century.
