Upon finding out that higher end P3 boards/cpus are sold for a mint these days I thought about pairing my V2's with a low level Pentium 4 in the range of 1.6-2.0ghz. Anybody try this combination with success or does it lead to problems with voltage or whatever? The OS is going to be Win98SE.

I done this setup a few times before, I never had one problem.
Don't believe the Lies others will tell you about the cards roasting or running hit do to the faster cpu. I have 2 voodoo2 in x58 system even.

As others have said they do work. The Voodoo 2 does actually get warmer if you keep it busy. So it will run hotter on your P4 than on a original Pentium for example. But unless you have some real ventilation issues with your case its nothing to worry about. If your case can take a front mount fan or side mount next to PCI slots its never hurts to add a fan.

P4 3.2E + 865PE + Radeon HD3850 + Voodoo2 SLI + WinXpSp3. Works perfectly except glide 2.1.1 games (both DOS and Win32), can't detect a card because the CPU is too fast.
P4 3.2E + 865PE + Radeon 9100 + Voodoo2 SLI + WinME - works ok if you use 3.02.02 or 3.03.00a drivers. Earlier version fail the detection because of a fast CPU.
Have tested a Voodoo2 SLI with C2D E8400 + Q45 Express + WinXpSp3 setup. The result is similar.

Asus P4P800 SE/Pentium4 3.2E/2 Gb DDR400B,
Radeon HD3850 Agp (Sapphire), Catalyst 14.4 (XpProSp3).
Voodoo2 12 MB SLI, Win2k drivers 1.02.00 (XpProSp3).
