Hello everyone,

i Built a very Fast WinXP AGP System consisting of following Parts:

CPU: Core 2 Quad Q6600,
Motherboard: Asrock 775i65G
RAM: 2GB GEIL DDR 400 CL2.5
GPU: Sapphire HD 3850 AGP
Soundcard: Audigy 2

Everything is Set Up and works Great but the Fan Noise of the GPU drives me nuts. Are there any good Aftermarket Coolers where i can choose from?

Thanks (btw, its my first Post 😎 )

I would say, just try to live with it. This is how it was back in those days. Fans were loud! Especially the smaller ones.
There is no magic solution and I do not think it is worth the effort.
You could add some aluminum foils (check the car audio sound insulation) inside your case and you will hear it less annoying.

Don't spread fud 😀

You can use a semi passive solution, like Arctic Accelero Rev.2 with a slow fans blowing at it. I had such solution on a 3870 back in the day and it worked like a charm.

Die ewigkeit ist hier und jetzt.

Just find HIS HD3850 is the best card, best cooler, or even Palit HD 3850 will be better... Or you can try finding MSI Radeon x1950Pro AGP very well cooled card...
Sapphire cards have junk coolers from X1xxx series up to HD3xxx, just avoid them...

Behold the "great" coolers of Sapphire, that are making one Radeon to reach the pleasant 90c enjoy...

And about your links very, very cherry picked images and series of cards, while in reallity MOST Sapphire cards before HD4xxx was with the junk coolers in my links, that are ONLY 1 slot, and the heatsink metal is some total trash...

I would not say they're cherry picked, true most 1 slot cards they made had shit for coolers, but most everyone had shit for coolers on such cards back then. The difference is Sapphire had alot if cards with zalman heats sinks most forgotten about.

Well i did forgot about the better coolers from Sapphire, and still most cards i have seen or owned did have the junk 1 slot cooler on them, never have seen, or have in my hands Sapphire with Zalman cooler...

Most cards Sapphire did sell back then were crummy 1 slot cards. They had a lot of good cards, but at that time Sapphire was not as well know as they are today and few bought their nicer stuff. Most every older card you see from Sapphire today is a crummy low cost 1 slot cooler card as they sold so many of them.

Like this 4650

Its a two slot card with a rather small 1 slot heat sink. I bet that thing is ether loud or runs hot.

Evening all. Reviving this 4 year dead thread, as in case anyone is interested, I have just popped a video on YouTube where i've replaced the stock cooler on an AGP HD 3850. I'm going to dig around eBay for some other coolers to try and see which does the best job! I used an Arctic Accelero L2 Plus which I found second hand, and i'm going to start trawling to see what else I can lay my hands on 😀

Anyway, thoroughly un-scientific acoustic and thermal comparisons toward the end of the video - https://youtu.be/8ueKUWoBu9I

Right - for further thermal testing i've now ordered an Akasa Vortexx Neo AK-VC03-BLUV, and an Arctic Cooling Accelero Twin Turbo Pro with no fans. I'll test again comparing all three, and with the Twin Turbo i'll test with and without fans. This time i'll use my thermal camera to check on chip temps etc as well 😉

That's a nice vid actually 😀
Only gripe (kinda) is the background music, but maybe that's just me. These VGA heatsinks don't seem to be easy to come by anymore (mostly not in production anymore), which is a real shame.

0x0000008E blue screen is probably due to issues with your storage.

Thanks! Yeah.. I figure there needs to be something in the background while I don't say anything. Otherwise it's just me breathing...
This turned up at lunchtime and i'm expecting good things from it.

I'm running out of IDE drives to reinstall windows onto! As it happens I tried again this morning with a different drive as working from home today. Just for giggles I might try again with my Quantum Bigfoot drive.. but it is very VERY loud..
I've scoured the internet for clues on the Advance Pixel Shader crash, and quite often the z-buffer is mentioned in the registry. I've been looking but can't find anything with a 3 in it to change to a 15 as per https://www.neowin.net/news/if-3dmark-2001se- … el-shader-test/

I'm thinking of ditching my Athlon XP 3200+ build anyway as that 775Dual-VSTA also arrived today so i'm itching to build that. Hopefully it's a hardware thing and I won't have the same problem on a different build? Of course it could also be the AGP 3850 card i'm using, so it's a good thing I have two so I can see what it does with the other one 😉

Not enough hours in the day.

I have 2, problem is the A7N8X-X has no sata, and the matsonic ms8177c has sata but does not recognise the drives as viable for installation, and that's with slipstreamed ahci assuming it makes a difference with that drive

Sleep is for the weak (sanity too).
