hi all

i have an nivida geforce 6800 xt 256mb in my current project with win98 and xp and most games seem ok but one or two small things

the driver installer see and find the card and xp but win98 different story - had it manually doing as the installer wouldnt see the graphics card chipset

games from early 2000s work fine like mafia 1, gta 3, vice city but a few late 90s games have issues, like a nocturne - if use the card with directx 6 or 7, the 3d models dont show, just the shadows of the 3d models but if use directx 5 its fine but at a lower resolution

it is possible to use agp card for xp/late win98 games and an older pci card for win98 for late win95/early win98 games at the same that may have issues since all games let you choose what card to use

According to this
Win98: more than one video card
it may be possible, but for Windows 98 your only option might be to choose which card is the "primary" card in the BIOS. That means your BIOS must have that option.

From this thread
best win98 driver for geforce 6600 / 6800 series?

GF6 series dropped support for some features that older games may need (8-bit paletted textures for example). A GF4 or FX5 series card is a much better choice if you want full compatibility.

That would explain why you're not getting the 3D models displaying properly with the 6800.
