Hello all,
I noticed something strange with my Win98SE rig. It's a PIII-500 on an ASUS P2B-F, 512MB 133Mhz RAM, 2x16GB CF as HDDs.
With a Voodoo 3 3500 AGP I'm getting about 880ish 3dmark points in 3dmark2001se. I plugged in my other Voodoo 3, a Voodoo 3 2000 AGP, to see if it still works and I'm constantly getting about 1000ish 3dmark points with it.
Nothing else was changed in the system. Drivers are the latest official drivers from 3dfx for the 3500.
I thought maybe the thermal paste dried out or something, so I removed the old paste and applied new one, I also attached a 92mm fan to it just to be sure 😀 Still 880ish 3dmarks. For comparison the V3 2000 has an old 486 fan attached.
In games the 3500 works fine, no freezes or artifacts.
Should I be worried the 3500 is defective? Or is 3dmark just not that accurate maybe?

I have hardly any experience with Voodoo cards, but 3DMark 2001 seems too new (DirectX 8) to be a meaningful test for them.
If you still see the same oddity with 3DMark99 or 2000 then I'd be more bothered.
