Hi
I have problem with installing drivers for Diamond Viper 770 AGP graphics card. Card gives me picture and win 98 se boots fine. Problem comes when I trie to install drivers. I removed windows generic driver from device manager and cleared inf. Then I installed Detonator 45.23 drivers. After boot windows asks about new device. I proceed and windows finds driver C:\WINDOWS\INF\NVAML.INF. Then I try install and it gives me error Windows cannot find driver. What I do wrong and how these drivers should be installed? I previously had Voodoo3 installed in the same pc.

Current Projects:
1: Gigabyte GA-6VX7B-4X - Intel Pentium III 1000EB - 256 mb PC-133 SDRAM - 3Dfx Voodoo 3 3000 - Creative Sound Blaster Audigy
2: M-tech R418W2 - Intel DX4-100 - 8 mb RAM - Cirrus Logic CL-GD5446BV - Creative Sound Blaster Vibra 16S

The problem is that you're trying to install raw NVidia drivers on a Diamond product. Yes, I know it's an NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 chip - I have the exact same card. But mine works perfectly fine. Why? Because I went after the Diamond drivers... provided by Diamond...for a Diamond card...

I am attempting to find my installer package for that card now, but it could take a while.

Thats a very good point. Have to look for one of those.

I owned a V770 back in the day, and we flashed it with an NVIDIA BIOS instead of the original Diamond. Never looked back.

Okey. I got the right driver and it seems to work now allright. Thanks for the help. In case someone else needs that driver in future here is the link https://www.helpjet.net/Fs-28458453-40070176-97063551.html
I'm wondering is my card some cut down model? It doesn't have any jumpers on board. And its missing some capasitors compared to http://www.vgamuseum.info/index.php/cpu/item/ … vidia-riva-tnt2 these images. My board is revision B.

I have the same Diamond card and I believe it's a full-blown Riva TNT2, as opposed to the cheaper M64 version or whatever. It runs DirectX 7 games very well at my TV's 1024x768 resolution (it's actually 1333x768, but Win9x has problems displaying 16:9 resolutions).

Then I should correct myself. For me, Win98-period graphics cards have trouble displaying in 16:9 - chipsets like the i740, Riva TNT2, ATI Rage, etc. It wasn't until the Radeon/Geforce series was released that they started doing 16:9 resolutions, and for me that was Windows XP, not 9x. My first wide-screen screen was my XP laptop from 2005, and it was 16:10 with a native resolution of 1920x1200. It was crazy high image resolution for its time. The biggest screen I had before that was a 17" CRT display I usually ran at 800x600... yes, even in Windows XP.

And yeah, 1366 is correct. My bad.

This card is not M64. I have one of those too and performance is not even near. Now I have next problem. When computer boots to windows it crashes in the middle of the windows startup sound. Have to try to disable Diamond's additional software I think. Has anyone had a problem with this iControl Desktop Manager?

I did Clear-boot troubleshooting and the problem is in System.ini -> [Boot] -> display.drv=pnpdrvr.drv. I think of reinstalling drivers first.

Driver reinstall didn't help. I also tried other drivers but nothing. Crashes still when loading display driver. Any ideas?

Allright. Now I found out the possible problem. I installed Win98se to other hd. When I was installing drivers I noticed that two Diamond products aren't working together too well. I first installed Viper drivers and after that Monster sound drivers. After that computer jammed at the same spot than earlier. I switched Monster sound to original Audigy and now everything is working smoothly. Anyone encountered same problem. If I remember right my chipset is VIA Apollo 133A. I also earlier tried Geforce 2 GTS and It had same crashing problem than Viper. So it might be Monster sound drivers vs Nvidia drivers.
