Hello

I have a Radeon 9600SE that fits into an AGP PRO slot. Mobo is a P4C800.
My problem is quite "simple":
Computer doesn't start meaning I can't switch the power supply ON.

I used to have a Radeon X1650Pro IceQ but that one is dead showing only vertical lines at some point but now showing nothing. But the
computer was running.
I have a second set of power supply, mobo (same type of board), processor, etc. and that Radeon behaves in the same manner.

Does anybody know if there is a compatibility issue?
Is there anything that can be measured on that board?

Thanks for your help.

Walter

Hello and welcome to the board! :-)
If the card is preventing the PSU from turning on it is likely shorting and activating the safety circuit in the PSU.
Sorry for the bad news but this is the best remote diagnosis I can make based on your description.

Post pictures of your card for better guesses. ;-)

Sorry, I didn't understand very well.
If you switch in the ON (I) position the Switch at the back of your Power Supply, what happens?

And if you press the Power On button at your case?

Does the circuit breaker in your home goes off?

Your motherboard should be compatible with that GPU.

Hello aaronkatrini

That's true. I was not too clear. Sorry.
The switch at the back of the PSU is ON. The green LED on the mobo is ON as well.

When I press the power ON button, nothing happens!
I have to get my multimeter and make some basic checks. That board did not cost that much but I bought a functioning one, or supposed to be like that!

Thanks for your help.

Yeah seems the problem is the Video card, since it has the same behavior in the other motherboard.
I wouldn't spend much time trying to find where the problem is exactly, maybe find another cheap Agp Video card...
