On my Win98 sys can't go any higher than 800x600. Didn't write the error down but I figured some of you know what's going on.

On the shortcut got the usual add on -width 1024 -bpp 16. Do I need to delete/replace the opengl or glide dll in the game directory?

I got the modern port running fine on another sys but want to solve this issue so I get that "warm fuzzy feeling".

yes, the opengl32.dll file is a minigl. just delete it to use the full icd from your driver install.

Yep, that indeed did the trick. One thing I did notice is that the menus/lower part of screen showing health and etc. is drastically smaller.
Don't know if that was the result of the 1.11 patch or upping the rez.

that's totally normal. those are still the same bitmaps shown at a larger res. also consider the timeframe, i don't think optimizing the hud around 1024x768 would have been a big priority in 1997.
