hi, i have 3 machines that share common problems:
-3dmark 2001 and newer crashes (3dm01 in point sprites, for example)
-UT99, Unreal gold, and other UE1 games of the era have extremely low fps in D3D mode
-Counter strike source (older build) crashes when starts rendering (at the beginning of a match)
-sometimes, with these problems, the video driver starts to fail, so i have to restart the pc

PC1
Duron Spitfire 950
1GB DDR 266
PCChips M825 (K8M266)
TNT2 Pro 16MB AGP 4x w/ Detonator? 45.23
XP SP3

PC2
Duron Morgan 1.2
1GB DDR 266
PCChips M825 (K8M266)
MX4000 64MB AGP 4x w/ Forceware 93.71
XP SP3

PC3
Athlon XP Thoroughbred 1.6
1GB DDR 333
MSI KM4M (K8M400)
FX5200 128MB AGP x8 w/ Forceware 175.16
XP SP3

I'm very suspicious of driver issues, because the 3 pc works as expected on integrated graphics and with a SiS 315 Pro 32MB AGP 4x installed, even using the same driver on all three machines gave me the same problems: 45.23, 93.71, 81.98, 71.89

also, the 3 video cards works perfect on "similar" intel machines (P4M266, P4VM800, PT800 Ultra)

has someone had those problems? thanks

Given the periods and the specific motherboards - have you ruled out bad capacitors on either motherboard or PSU?

On the driver front, have you tried different version of the Via 4-in-1/Hyperion drivers? Possibly the AGP miniport driver could be to blame. Both on the caps and the Via drivers, chances are the nVidia GPUs stress the system more than the SiS 315 or integrated stuff, hence the difference.

that would be right but...
I've tested my gf 6200 512mb agp on all 3 pc and it worked flawless, same drivers, same windows, same games and benchs (i have a ghost image for each machine in my nas, so I've tested with basically a windows reinstall)

This may be a shot in the dark, but try disabling AGP Fastwrites in your BIOS. I remember AGP related issues being fairly common on VIA chipsets (I specifically remember it being related to nvidia GPUs and possible AMD CPUs too) and it may just be exactly the right\wrong combination of GPUs and chipsets to cause problems. Those are the common factors between the systems though... VIA chipset, AMD CPU, nvidia GPU.

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.
