Is it good for 3dfx emulation and bit faster than ti4200 if I stick with directx 7 and 8 games? 98SE and late DOS.

This is to be used with socket 754 SiS motherboard and PIII 800 with 440BX for playing with.

I know some people beat on the geforce fx stuff as trash but one have to appreciate it for vintage gaming if not too taxed on fx stuff?

Thanks and cheers,

I can't speak for Glide wrapper performance, but compared to a TI 4200 in general, the regular FX 5600 is slower https://techreport.com/review/5103/nvidias-ge … ce-fx-5600-gpu/ .

The FX 5600 Ultra is apparently more evenly matched .

Oh well. This one is Ultra as it claims but no external power connector and costs more than 90 cdn total.

Thanks for the comments, I already have 4200 and MX400, MX440 and geforce2 GTS and Pro. And few FX cards except 5600. I did not buy the FX 5700 unless I intend it for very late gaming.

Just look for FX5900XT. Best buy card from FX generation. They appear from time to time on eBay auctions. Usually, prices are good.

You should be able to find an FX 5900 for some 100-ish $CAN shipping from somewhere in Eastern Europe (Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Hungary, for example). However, the current geopolitical situation in that part of the world being what it is, there may be some risk involved through no fault of the seller. Incidentally, I wish to extend my sympathy and best wishes of peace to everyone living in an area where things are currently tense .
