Hi guys, I started building my overpowered Windows 2000 rig. The computer I plan to build is double boot Windows 2000 PRO SP4 + Vista x64.
These are my current specs:
* mobo is Gigabyte GA-M52L-S3P nForce 520;
* AMD Phenom X2 555 Black Edition, 2x3.2GHz, goes up to 3.9 GHz no problem on air;
* 4 x 2 GB DDR2 @ 800 MHz;
* 80+40GB HDD, 256GB SSD for Windows Vista;
* Sparkle GeForce 9800GTX+ 512MB DDR3;
There is no problem to install drivers for this GPU on Win 2k as well for Vista. On Vista it works brilliantly (DX10 support) and Windows 2000 runs super smooth. But I wonder, is there an option to use anything more powerful like GTX 460 for an example? Attached are some results on Vista for the 9800GTX+, but I can run these tests on 2k as well almost the same score.
(the tests were run on stock cpu clock).
PC1: Highscreen => FIC PA-2005, 64 MB EDO RAM, Pentium MMX 200, S3 Virge + Voodoo 2 8 MB
PC2: AOpen => GA-586SG, 512 MB SDRAM, AMD K6-2 400 MHz, Geforce 2 MX 400
